This year’s festival will be a celebration of the 40 years of the township of Nhulunbuy, with the events of the festival focussed on the theme “Nhulunbuy: 40 Years Past, 40 Years Ahead”.

A key part of the celebrations is the rich arts heritage and talent in the East Arnhem region to be showcased through the “Now” Arts Awards and Exhibition, to be hosted at Captain Cook Community Centre from Thursday 26th of July to Friday 4th of August. As part of this celebration of the arts, there will be:

• The launch of the Exhibition with an evening of fine food and wine on Thursday 26th of July. Details of the event and tickets coming soon.
• The launch of a special 40 Years of Gove historical photograph display as part of the Exhibition, with a groovy Back to the 70s Party on Friday 27th of July. Details of the event and tickets coming soon.
• Daily opening of the Exhibition for free public entry from Friday 27th of July to Thursday 3rd of August, 10AM-4PM (every day) and 7PM-9PM (except Friday 27th).
• Arts Workshops open for participation by the community.
• Competitions, which will be announced at a special event on Thursday 3rd August, for:
  • Arts
  • Photography
  • Writing
• The celebration of 40 Years of Music with our Showcase event on Friday 4th of August.

The festival will close on Saturday 4th of August with the huge Finale Day Festivities at Hindle Oval, including:

• The Finale Day Float Parade – 10am
• Huge Finale Day Festivities on Hindle Oval, with food, drinks, stalls, displays, live music and family fun – From 10am.
• Sunset Concert with a very special performance (A surprise to come!)
• Rock and dance the night away with our Party Band, with bar and food from sunset until the Festival close at midnight.
